In an effort to better define our mission, the “Special Collections Department” at the Charleston County Public Library is morphing into “The Charleston Archive.” Simultaneously, we’ve re-named our blog “The Charleston History Advocate” to reflect our commitment to promoting a better awareness of the documentary resources of our community history and to lobby for their future preservation. In the coming days, weeks, and months we’ll be posting more frequently and on a wider variety of historical topics, all related to Charleston County and the City of Charleston, South Carolina.
