On Sunday, 16 September 2007, I had the pleasure of presenting a lecture to the Charleston Chapter of the South Carolina Genealogical Society. The goal was to provide an overview of the genealogical resources available at CCPL–both in our Special Collections and in the South Carolina Room. It’s always fun to share this information with people who have an active interest in the topic, and who appreciate the time and effort required to bring old records to life. During the talk I dropped a number of not-so-subtle hints about the need for volunteers to help transcribe and index some of the records in our Special Collections. The audience received the hints in good humor, and we discussed the practical issues involved in coordinating potential volunteer opportunities at CCPL. In closing, I invited the group to visit our new blog site, and to keep visiting to see all the upcoming additions.
